Abortion Resource Guide - Advocacy

Information helpful to developing policies or being a supporter or activist around abortion issues is available in the websites that follow.

American Civil Liberties Union

Because of the controversial nature of abortion, many advocacy groups both for and against are dedicated to this issue.  Physicians may become involved in several groups to advocate for increased access to abortion.  The ACLU works to preserve basic freedoms, such as the right to an abortion. The ACLU works to extend rights to segments of the population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including Native Americans and other people of color, people with disabilities, and the poor.

Catholics for a Free Choice (CFFC)

CFFC shapes and advances sexual and reproductive ethics that are based on justice, reflects a commitment to women's well-being, and respects and affirms the moral capacity of women and men to make sound decisions about their lives.

Center for Reproductive Rights
The Center for Reproductive Rights uses the law to advance reproductive freedom as a fundamental right that all governments are legally obligated to protect, respect, and fulfill.

NARAL Pro-Choice America

NARAL is the political and grassroots arm of the pro-choice movement and mobilizes millions of pro-choice supporters to achieve these goals.  Each state has its own NARAL organization that serves to spearhead pro-choice advocacy within the state.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual's income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence. Plannedparenthood.org is the official gateway to the online Planned Parenthood community and to reproductive health and rights information, services, and resources.

Planned Parenthood’s advocacy/policy arm has the goal of guaranteeing the legal right to abortion and promoting access to abortion.

Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health
