Medicaid Pay Bump

Medicaid pays 66% of Medicare fees on average, as low as 50% in New Jersey. In all, close to half the states pay no more than 75% of Medicare fee levels. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) required state Medicaid programs to pay Medicare rates for primary care services (E&M plus vaccine delivery codes) delivered by internists, family physicians, and pediatricians in 2013 and 2014. ACOG is fully committed to extending this program to include ob-gyns.

Medicaid expansion under the ACA may give 4.6 million more women health care coverage in 2014, but will they be able to find an ob-gyn?  These ads are part of ACOG’s campaign to win Medicare payments for ob-gyn Medicaid primary care services.
